Consumer Goods companies have historically operated with factory shipment data only; today retailers increasingly share store level POS, inventory and price information, additionally syndicate data suppliers provide competitive insights. Many companies have approached the use of data in a siloed way, usually around specific point problems. As the sources of data increase, so do formats, this volume of multi-data and the varying granularity in which it is provided makes the single point approach unsustainable.
